Lions vs 49ers NFC Championship Props and Best Bets: Niners Have Purdy Good Air Assault

The Detroit Lions face off against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game on Sunday night. With NFL odds having a towering total of 51.5 for this contest, many expect a shootout between a pair of high-octane offenses. The 49ers also enter the Conference Championship odds as -7.5-point favorites.

With that and Super Bowl odds in mind, I’m backing a pair of playmakers to go Over their player props but I’m also betting the Under on a prop for Christian McCaffrey. Why am I fading arguably the best weapon in this game? Check out my best free NFL picks and predictions for the Lions vs. 49ers to find out.

NFL Playoff Odds: Vikings Steep Favorites to Make Postseason After Surprising Start

Although the Super Bowl is naturally football’s betting mecca, NFL odds to make the playoffs can be just as interesting and lucrative for bettors.

After starting 4-0, the reigning champ Kansas City Chiefs’ NFL playoff odds (-20,000) are the shortest. Next-closest are their AFC rivals, the Buffalo Bills (-800) and Houston Texans (-600).

The 49ers are still odds-on to return to the postseason at -300, but the surprising Minnesota Vikings at -450 are top dogs in the NFC right now.

On the other side of the coin, the New York Giants (+1,500) are the biggest long shots to make the postseason, as we check out our latest NFL playoff odds.

Haiti football abuse investigation: Fifa suspends head of referees

Fifa has suspended the Haitian Football Federation’s (FHF) head of referees, Rosnick Grant, from all football-related activities for 90 days as it continues to investigate allegations of sexual abuse.

Grant, a former international referee who is now president of the FHF’s referees’ commission (Cona) and a vice-president of the FHF, was contacted at the end of August by Fifa’s ethics committee and asked to provide a written statement as part of their investigation. A statement on Wednesday confirmed that he has now been suspended, with Grant having already been notified of the decision.

West Ham reach verbal agreement to sign Lucas Paquetá from Lyon

West Ham have reached a verbal agreement with Lyon to sign Lucas Paquetá after days of negotiations. Personal terms have also been verbally agreed and a deal is now in its final stages.

Paquetá, an attacking midfielder who has 33 Brazil caps, is keen to play in the Premier League. West Ham’s talks with Lyon have been complicated but have reached a point where documents can be exchanged with a view to concluding a transfer.

David Moyes confirmed West Ham’s interest in Paquetá on Wednesday and said the club had been trying to get “really top players”. Paquetá was one of the Brazilians picked out by their manager, Tite, as playing a “high level” in a June interview with the Guardian in which he looked a…

Dear Uefa, why have we been fined €5,000 for ‘Uefa mafia’ chants?

Have you ever been fined for expressing something that is clearly within international legislation on freedom of expression? We have. In a Women’s Champions League match in Bergen this year.

For a short period of our game against St Pölten in January our supporters chanted “Uefa mafia” after not being awarded a free-kick. Big deal? Apparently so as we were fined €5,000 (£4,275) by Uefa for it. In women’s football, that is a lot of money and about 10% of the prize money for winning the match.

Three Fantasy Football Risks Worth Taking in 2024

We read and read, we prepare, we cram… and then we're on the clock to make an early-round fantasy pick, and it all goes out the window. Do we stick to our bold game plan or veer from it and take perhaps a safer, less risky approach?Stick with the plan.Or at least devise a similar game plan on the fly. Either way, you must be willing to take chances, even if it goes against the norm. Here are three such risks worth taking:Take a RB in the first 2 rounds, no matter what. IDIOT OF THE YEAR 2021: Cole Beasley, Enes Kanter, Ron DeSantis, and more doofs

Happy holidays, you filthy animals, and welcome to Deadspin’s annual IDIOT OF THE YEAR extravaganza. Within these hallowed slides are 50 of the year’s least bearable dorks, whose transgressions range from “just kinda silly,” to “dangerously stupid,” to “Trevor Bauer.” The IDIOT OF THE YEAR selections ahead were voted on by an expert team of Deadspin staffers, whose first round of balloting was thrown out after they’d unanimously picked themselves No. 1. With that conflict of interest loophole sewn up, the team tried again. This list is the product of that scrupulous process. The qualities considered include, but are not limited to: Volume/Wrongness Coefficient: Look, nobody cares if you’re wildly off the mark about everything in private. But please don’t shout abo…
