Ancelotti denies Napoli players have turned against him amid winless streak

Napoli head coach Carlo Ancelotti denied his squad have turned against him after the club s winless streak extended to eight matches.

Sunday s shock 2-1 Serie A loss at home to Bologna left Napoli without a victory in all competitions since October 23.

The pressure is mounting on Ancelotti as Napoli – runners-up last term – languish seventh in Serie A, 17 points behind leaders Inter and eight adrift of the Champions League places

Higuain not measuring himself against Ronaldo

Gonzalo Higuain insists his brace against Monaco was not a response to the hat-trick netted by former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo as a likely Champions League final between Real Madrid and Juventus looms large.

A treble from Ronaldo against Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday means Zinedine Zidane s holders are widely expected to secure a place in the decider in Cardiff next month.

Higuain, who played alongside the Portugal forward in the Spanish capital from 2009 to 2013, struck twice as Juve registered a commanding 2-0 victory at Monaco in the other semi-final a day later.

Podolski leaves Vissel Kobe amid speculation of Malaysia move

Lukas Podolski has left Vissel Kobe amid speculation he is to join Malaysian Super League champions Johor Darul Ta zim.

The former Bayern Munich and Arsenal forward moved to the J1 League in 2017 and made 59 appearances in all competitions, winning the Emperor s Cup last year.

Vissel confirmed on Saturday that Podolski s contract, which expired at the end of last season, will not be renewed.

I was able to come to a wonderful country called Japan and get to know Japanese culture, Podolski said via the club s website.

I ll keep in touch in the future, but today I will take this opportunity to say thank you. Thank you, all.

The 2014 World Cup winner has been tipped to sign for JDT after visiting the club s training ground this week.

Haaland advised against Man United?

According to a recent report from Bild, Erling Haaland’s father Alf-Inge has urged him not to move to the Premier League in search of a switch to Manchester United. Instead, he seems to want his son to head on over to Germany in order to play in the Bundesliga.

The reasoning behind this is because he wants his son to be assured of a place in the starting XI, which he doesn’t feel like would be the case with United. Regardless of whether you think that’s true or not, it’s certainly interesting to note that his father is having such a notable say in where his future lies.

While we’re all for having strong people around you who can assist in big decisions such as these, that doesn’t necessarily mean listening to every word your father says is a good idea.…

Costa Rica 1 Panama 0: Godoy own goal the difference

Costa Rica edged into the CONCACAF Gold Cup semi-finals with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Panama on Wednesday.

Oscar Ramirez s men needed a second-half own goal from Anibal Godoy at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia to book their place in the last four.

David Guzman delivered a dangerous set-piece in the 77th minute and Godoy headed past his own goalkeeper.

Both teams had their chances throughout, but Ramirez s side always looked the more likely.

Dele Alli´s decline: The numbers that show how far the Spurs midfielder has fallen

Dele Alli should be approaching his peak years but the Tottenham midfielder appears to be in stark decline.

From his Spurs debut back in August 2015, the midfielder s trajectory was initially impressive as he quickly adapted to the big step up from MK Dons.

An England debut soon followed and the youngster apparently had the world at his feet.

Fast forward to the opening game of Spurs 2020-21 Premier League campaign on Sunday, when Alli was hooked by Jose Mourinho at half-time of a limp 1-0 loss to Everton, and the outlook is markedly different.

Alli has stagnated, perhaps even regressed, with any hope that the new campaign would herald a fresh start quick to evaporate.

So just how far below his high-water mark has the 24-year-old fallen? The …

PSG interested in Mane

According to a recent report from France Football, Paris Saint-Germain could wind up making an ambitious move for Liverpool star Sadio Mane during next summer’s transfer window – especially if Neymar winds up leaving the French giants in order to sign for Barcelona or Real Madrid.

The belief is that they could allow him to leave for a fee of around £150 million, with one of their main priorities being to secure a new long term contract for Kylian Mbappe. Of course, in addition to that, there’s also the lingering query as to what they’d do in relation to the potential deal for Mane.

The Senegalese sensation is one of the most exciting players in the Premier League today and probably even world football as a whole, to the point where many believe he is o…

Salah enjoys Premier League Golden Boot win

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah revelled in winning the Premier League Golden Boot once again on Sunday.

Salah shared the prize with team-mate Sadio Mane and Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the trio finished the campaign with 22 goals each.

The Egypt international was unable to find the net in Liverpool s 2-0 win over Wolves at Anfield, where they fell short in the Premier League title race as Manchester City were crowned champions once again.

But Salah was still able to enjoy his Golden Boot, posting an image with the prize and his daughter on Twitter with the words: Yes, I know we have one at home. This is a new one.

Liverpool 1-2 Leeds United: Talking points as Leeds end long Liverpool unbeaten run at Anfield

Leeds United put in a fierce performance at Anfield on Saturday and reaped the rewards as an early goal from Rodrigo Moreno and a late one from Crysencio Summerville stunned last season s Premier League and Champions League runners-up Liverpool and left Merseyside with the three points safely tucked away in their pockets. It was Mohamed Salah who bagged the only goal for the Reds, and it proved no more than a mere token of hope before it was extinguished completely.

Liverpool s defensive woes

The night could hardly have started worse than it did for the home side. With half a minute gone they had a very good opportunity to take the lead when Leeds defender Liam Cooper misunderstood goalkeeper Illan Meslier, but Pascal Struijk cleared Salah s tight-angle effort off the line. An…

Arsenal 2-2 Crystal Palace: Vieira denied on Gunners return by last-gasp Lacazette

Alexandre Lacazette struck a stoppage-time equaliser as Arsenal rescued a point in their 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.

The Gunners made the ideal start at Emirates Stadium, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finding the net for a third successive home match to give them an early lead.

However, Palace hit after the break as Christian Benteke and Odsonne Edouard completed the turnaround on Patrick Vieira s return to his former club.

But with virtually the last kick of the game, substitute Lacazette fired home a dramatic leveller to stretch the hosts unbeaten run to six matches in all competitions.

Arsenal were aiming for a fourth straight home victory and they took the lead after just eight minutes on Monday.

After an initial corner was overhit, Vicente G…
