Veh rules out becoming Eintracht chairman

Armin Veh has ruled out the possibility that he could take over as Eintracht Frankfurt chairman after returning to the Bundesliga club for a second spell as head coach on Sunday.

The 54-year-old was confirmed as Thomas Schaaf s successor on a two-year contract over the weekend and faced the media on Monday.

Veh was asked whether he could take over from chairman Heribert Bruchhagen when the latter retires next year, but said he has no intention of taking a role in the boardroom.

As a Bundesliga trainer, you cannot plan to take another job in a year or two. It is not contemplated that I start another post, said Veh.

That would be a total cut, because that would mean the end of my coaching career. So far I have not yet. I prefer to stand on the traini…

Borussia Dortmund v Mainz: Klopp looking up after Freiburg win

With his side no longer propping up the Bundesliga, Jurgen Klopp wants Borussia Dortmund to maintain momentum for Friday s visit of Mainz.

Jurgen Klopp has urged his Borussia Dortmund side to build on their first victory of 2015 when his former club Mainz visit Signal Iduna Park on Friday.

After a difficult campaign worsened on their return from the mid-season break, Dortmund moved off the bottom with a 3-0 victory at Freiburg last weekend, although Klopp s men have plenty of work to do to salvage a respectable finish.

The 2012 Bundesliga champions boosted by the agreement of a long-term contract for Marco Reus this week remain in the bottom three and Klopp is eager to banish memories from their last home match.

Lingard in Solskjaer´s plans as Henderson continues recovery from COVID-19

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted the re-invented Jesse Lingard is a part of his plans, while the Manchester United manager also hinted at a return for Dean Henderson.

Lingard enjoyed a productive loan spell with West Ham in the second half of last season, netting nine times in 16 Premier League appearances.

The 28-year-old s impressive showings for the Hammers secured an England call-up at the end of the 2020-21 campaign, though he narrowly missed out on Gareth Southgate s final Euro 2020 squad.

David Moyes is reportedly keen to bring Lingard back to London Stadium but Solskjaer outlined the midfielder s importance to his United squad, despite an incredible depth of talent in that area of the pitch at Old Trafford.

Don’t forget Jesse Lingard who has r…

Trippier suspended for 10 weeks over FA betting breaches

Atletico Madrid and England defender Kieran Trippier has suspended for 10 weeks and fined £70,000 for breaching the Football Association s betting rules.

The 30-year-old s suspension from all football-related activity is effective immediately and runs up to and including February 28, 2021.

He will miss at least 14 games for LaLiga leaders Atletico, including the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Chelsea.

Trippier will be back in contention by the time Atleti host Real Madrid in El Derbi on March 7.

An FA statement on Wednesday read: Kieran Trippier has been suspended for 1…

´That one is for you Finlay!´ – Grealish dedicates England goal celebration to young fan

Jack Grealish dedicated his goal celebration in England s rampant 6-2 thrashing of Iran in their World Cup opener to a young fan.

Grealish came off the bench to score the Three Lions sixth in the 90th minute as Gareth Southgate s side got off to a great start in Qatar.

The Manchester City man s dance after scoring caught the attention of fans and he explained after the match it was for 11-year-old City supporter Finlay, who has cerebral palsy, the same condition as Grealish s sister.

In a letter to Grealish earlier this year, Finlay said it would be a dream to meet him, and when the two did meet, the 27-year-old promised to dedicate his next goal to Finlay.

For you Finlay

Prediction: Everton vs Arsenal

Best Odds: 19/20

Bookmaker:

Looking to bounce back from their Old Trafford defeat, Arsenal will make the trip to Merseyside on Monday night when they face off against Everton.

Everton

Starting with the hosts, last seen in midweek putting in a woeful display at Goodison Park, it is fair to say that Everton find themselves in the midst of a real struggle. While the Blues might have opened the 2021/22 campaign with an eye-catching run of form, Rafa Benitez s men were last seen getting hit with a 4-1 drumming against bitter rivals Liverpool. With the pressure on Benitez appearing to reach a boiling point, they have only shown a host of issues on either side of the international break. In fact, the ex-Newcastle boss has seen his side collect just a pair of points fr…

Cech grateful to Abramovich and Chelsea fans

Petr Cech sought approval from Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich before sealing a move to continue his Premier League career with Arsenal.

Cech ended 11 trophy-laden years at Stamford Bridge by completing a move to Emirates Stadium for an undisclosed fee on Monday.

The 33-year-old was first-choice for Chelsea until last season, when Belgium international Thibaut Courtois helped Jose Mourinho s team to regain the league title in an impressive breakthrough campaign.

In an open letter to Chelsea fans, Cech revealed that time spent on the sidelines made him appreciate how much he desired regular first-team football and he was grateful to Abramovich who financed his signing in July 2004 for helping the move to Arsenal go through.

The limited playing time gave me…

Ranieri keen on Cole reunion

that new Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri is keen on making Carlton Cole his first signing since taking over at the King Power Stadium.

The former England international is a free agent after being released by West Ham United at the end of last season.

He has spent the last nine seasons at the Boleyn Ground, racking up almost three hundred appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring sixty-eight goals.

The thirty-one year old began his career with Chelsea – playing under Ranieri for three seasons – and at the time the Italian labelled him the best young player he had ever worked with.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, Cole enjoyed loan spells with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Charlton Athletic and Aston Villa.
